How I Took Control Over My Web Site, And Employed New Online Marketing Approaches To Ensure It Had A Good Search Engine Placement, So I Could Reach As Many Potential Buyers As Possible

I own a landscaping organisation in the northeast of England; about 10 years ago I decided to get a site made to promote my organisation. Having no real IT or Online Marketing skills of my own, I found a local web design organisation and paid them about ?2,000 to make and host a site for 2 years. After being charged all that money I ended up with a two page site, home web page and a contact us webpage. If I looked for my organisation, my site would come out on the front page of results, but if I looked for my services, for example paving or turfing, I would not find my site. Even if I made the search more local by typing in a local place name, I could not find my site without browsing through pages of results. So, when the 2 years were up, and I was asked for another ?2,000 for another 2 years, I did not renew the contract.

I was now back to where I had started, with no site but I was ?2,000 lighter. After speaking to a family friend, I decided to ask this friend and his graphic designer friend to design and construct a site for a few hundred pounds. So they set to work and made a few designs, and then I reviewed the designs and chose one. Then they set about constructing a site with a home page, about us page, decking page, paving page, garden services page, water features page, turfing page, case studies page, frequently asked questions page and a contact us page. Within a few weeks later I found myself with a nice looking site, which they submitted to the search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

But once again I found myself with a site with a Search Engine Placement that was very low, to resolve this this I started some Online Marketing by paying yell.com to run some adverts for me. This is the way it was for a year or so, and then I decided to get in a Search Engine Optimization Company to get the sites Search Engine Placement increased. The Search Engine Optimization Company inserted a list of keywords at the bottom of the home page, and also inserted a meta tag description, meta tag keywords list, a link to their site and a free tracker. This revealed how people got to my site and how many people got to it, as well as lots of other information. After getting this work done my site started to appear on the 2nd or 3rd pages of a local search for my service, which was at least positive step in the right direction.

It was a little while afterwards that I got a landscaping job for a couple who sold kids pools online, and they had lot of experience in developing sites Search Engine Placement and were willing to share their experience. So I put my friends who made my site, in touch with this couple, and they started re-designing with their guidance. It turned out that it was better in this case to re-make the site from scratch, so the site was optimised with vital keywords, and the code was easier to be read by the web bots and load time. I took this opportunity to feature another case study, and a links page to help develop the Search Engine Placement. I was quite sceptical about this new optimised site, and there was not long left on the hosting package, so I decided to launch the new optimised site, to see how it competed with the one optimised by the Search Engine Optimization Company. With both sites up and running, it was not long until the new site eclipsed the Search Engine Placement of the one optimised by the Search Engine Optimization Company. With more and more links exchanged with other sites, it was not long until my site www.firstclass-landscaping.co.uk appeared on the front page of searches for my services, and I now get hundreds of visitors a month.
