Let’s talk about social media. It’s an exciting tool to use online that has lot of power. As an internet marketer you place some content on your blog and someone retweets it. That piece of information was interesting and it took that much time and effort to retweet it then if you created it. People do this all the time without really thinking what they are doing.
Don’t get the wrong idea about me. Just like SEO training is a good thing to do. I’m no different than you. I use social media all the time for doing lots of things. Retweeting is a great thing to do. It comes down to getting your information out in the marketplace. I’d like to look at market leadership. Did you ever ask yourself why are certain people leaders in their market place?
When I asked this question I realized that something hit me like a bolt of lightening. The only difference between the market leader and the one who isn’t one is the way they go about presenting their material into the marketplace. Take a look at the content that they are putting out. They could write a blog post, do a podcast, put out a video, a PDF file, an interview, it really could be anything. If you look at it this way, market leaders and contributing to their own marketplace. They rise to certain positions because they have a viewpoint and they get actively involved.
You can do this on a steady basis yourself. Then you would be the one that everyone is talking about. Let’s examine what happens when someone retweets you. Backlinks, you’re obtaining backlinks. This is an SEO tool that people have in their hip pocket. What you want to do is to copy this behavior in an area that you happen to really like.
When I first thought of this, it changed everything for me. As soon as I used the term market leader and figured out what these people are doing, I had all sorts of flashbacks to where you had the cheerleaders and the captain of the football team back in high school. It’s a positive thing to strive for.
Some individuals are shy about getting into the limelight. This is not a good thing. You have to overcome your fear of being in front of someone if you want to start to make money online. Sometimes people might be afraid of what others might think about them. You just have to get past all of that. The best way to overcome this is to just go about it and do something.
What I want you to do are to take 90 days and set a goal. Put some content on a blog every single day. Ok, you can take one day off. Then sit back and watch what happens. People will begin to talk about you and what you are thinking. I wouldn’t worry so much about the content at first; the most important thing is to get something out there. People start stuff like this all the time. Those are just some tips I have that work really well for me when I am doing social media.
